Vysehrad
Czechia
This historic fort on a rock above the Vltava River in Prague, Vyšehrad has been a national cultural monument since 1962 and holds some of the most significant burial sites in Czech history. The Vyšehrad Cemetery contains the remains of Antonín Dvořák, Bedřich Smetana, Karel Čapek, and Alphonse Mucha. The fort also contains Prague's oldest surviving rotunda, St. Martin's, dating from the 11th century, and the Basilica of St. Peter and St. Paul. Likely founded in the 10th century, it became a royal seat under Vratislav I and was later incorporated into Charles IV's city fortifications.
