Widely regarded as the first capital of Vietnam and the origin of the Vietnamese nation, Việt Trì in Phú Thọ Province is home to the ancient capital of Văn Lang and the ancestral homeland of the Hùng Kings. Each year on the tenth day of the third lunar month, millions travel here to pay respects at Nghĩa Lĩnh Mountain. The city sits near the confluence of the Thao, Lô, and Đà rivers, where they merge to form the Red River.
