Urgut Shahri

A town at the foot of the Chaqilikalon mountains in southeastern Samarkand region, Urgut Shahri sits a short drive from Samarkand itself and is ringed by UNESCO World Heritage sites in the wider region. The Urgutsoy river runs through its centre, and the surrounding mountains offer easy access to highland terrain. The town serves as the administrative centre of Urgut district and is divided into some twenty traditional neighbourhoods.
