The oft-photographed Tybee Island Light Station and the Fort Screven Historic District anchor its heritage, while a stranger chapter of its history lingers offshore: a Mark 15 nuclear bomb accidentally dropped by the U.S. Air Force in 1958 was never recovered from the sea.
