Towada, in Aomori Prefecture, is the gateway city for Lake Towada and the Oirase Stream, two of the scenic highlights of the Towada-Hachimantai National Park. The city sits in the inland south of Aomori and serves as the administrative centre of the Kamikita region, with a food-and-drink scene concentrated in a walkable centre. UNESCO World Heritage sites lie within the wider region.
