Tongyeong
South Korea
This coastal city in South Gyeongsang Province, South Korea, Tongyeong is built around the legacy of Admiral Yi Sun-sin — the city's very name means "command post," referring to his principal base on nearby Hansan Island, and it was formerly known as Chungmu, after his posthumous title. The city spreads across the Goseong Peninsula and several islands, with a walkable centre well supplied with cafés and restaurants and the surrounding mountains and water close at hand.
