Founded in 1879 by prospector Ed Schieffelin, Tombstone is a small Arizona city in Cochise County best known as the site of the 1881 gunfight at the O.K. Corral. Once the most productive silver mining district in Arizona, it now runs largely on tourism tied to that Wild West history, and the streets and storefronts that made it famous are regularly photographed by visitors. Several historic churches survive from the boomtown era.
