Pocket-sized town in Morocco's Oriental region, Tendrara was historically known for one of the area's largest weekly sheep markets and for cross-border trade along the Algerian frontier. It is among the older settlements in Figuig Province, with most residents traditionally engaged in pastoral life. During the Vichy era, a labour camp near the town held Jewish prisoners from Warsaw, Leipzig, Salzburg, and Bucharest, alongside Spaniards and others, who lived in tents.
