This coastal village at the southern tip of the Sithonia peninsula in Chalkidiki, Sykia sits directly on the water with mountain terrain close by. Inhabited since the Byzantine period, it has a traditional character reflected in its architecture, and residents still work in fishing, farming, beekeeping, and livestock. The modern Greek singers Sokratis Malamas and Paola Foka both grew up here. Mount Athos, a UNESCO World Heritage site, lies in the wider region.
