Sup'ung

Sup'ung sits on the Yalu River at the North Korea–China border, dominated by a massive gravity dam built by Imperial Japan between 1937 and 1943. At its completion it was the largest dam in Asia and the third-largest hydroelectric facility in the world, behind only Hoover Dam and Wilson Dam. Bombed three times by UN forces during the Korean War, the dam is significant enough to appear on North Korea's national emblem.
