Sitting on the sound between two of Värmland's Fryken lakes, Sunne is a tiny Swedish town with a café and restaurant scene that would suit a town twice its size. The town takes its name from the Swedish word for a maritime sound, and water defines its character — with camping and a summer park on the water's edge. The wider municipality holds Mårbacka and Rottneros Park, both linked to Nobel laureate Selma Lagerlöf, who called the town "Broby" in her novels. A summer music festival draws visitors seasonally.
