Stargard
Poland
One of the oldest cities in Poland, Stargard sits on the Ina River in northwestern Poland with a walkable centre and a concentration of medieval Gothic landmarks — chiefly St. Mary's Church and a circuit of defensive walls, gates, and towers, all listed as Historic Monuments of Poland. The city also holds an international military cemetery connected to prisoner-of-war camps that operated here during both world wars, and serves as a major rail junction in the Szczecin agglomeration.
