Sistov

Bulgaria

Svishtov, on the Bulgarian bank of the Danube in Veliko Tarnovo Province, is the birthplace of writer Aleko Konstantinov and home to the Church of the Holy Trinity, considered a masterwork of the Bulgarian National Revival period by architect Kolyu Ficheto. The town sits opposite the Romanian town of Zimnicea, with the wider region holding several UNESCO World Heritage sites.
