This hill station in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Shaqlawa sits between Safeen and Sork mountains at high elevation northeast of Erbil, known for its waterfalls, greenery, and honey. Long a popular summer resort among Iraqis, the city has a little central core with cafés and restaurants, and the surrounding mountain terrain offers easy access to natural scenery.
