This college town in White County, Arkansas, with a heritage-dense centre and a compact cluster of cafés, restaurants, and historic churches, Searcy is home to Harding University, a private institution affiliated with the Churches of Christ that relocated here from Morrilton in the mid-1930s and occupies the former campus of Galloway College for Women. The county seat takes its name from Richard Searcy, a judge of the Superior Court of the Arkansas Territory.
