Sarandë
Vlorë · Albania
This walkable Ionian Sea town on the Albanian Riviera, Sarandë sits on a horseshoe bay between mountains and deep blue Mediterranean waters, with a food-and-drink scene concentrated along a seafront promenade. The ancient city of Butrint, a UNESCO World Heritage site, lies just outside town. Known in antiquity as Onchesmus and later renamed after a Byzantine monastery of the Forty Saints, Sarandë enjoys a Mediterranean climate with more than 300 sunny days a year and is reachable by ferry from the Greek island of Corfu.
