Pocket-sized Tuscan village in the Garfagnana, San Romano sits within the Tuscan-Emilian Apennine National Park and offers a surprising number of churches and places to eat and drink for its size. Local legend holds that the settlement arose after the destruction of two medieval castles, Boglio and Meschiana. The wider region is ringed by UNESCO World Heritage sites, and the mountains are close at hand.
