San Pedro Town
Belize
A waterfront town on Ambergris Caye, Belize's largest island, San Pedro has a walkable centre packed with cafés and restaurants and sits steps from the Caribbean. The island lies alongside the world's second-largest barrier reef, a UNESCO-recognised site in the wider region. Once a fishing village — granted town status in 1984 — it is also said to have inspired Madonna's "La Isla Bonita." Most residents speak both Spanish and English, and many also speak Kriol.
