High in the Sierra Norte de Oaxaca, this tiny Zapotec village is one of the self-governing pueblos mancomunados communities and has built its local economy around eco-tourism, with mountain trails, scenic viewpoints, and a handful of cafés and restaurants for its size. It hosts an annual wild mushroom festival, La Feria Regional del Hongos Silvestres, each late July or early August. UNESCO World Heritage sites lie within the wider region.
