Sakura, a city in Chiba Prefecture east of Tokyo, has a castle-town streetscape recognised as a Japanese Heritage site, and the wider region holds UNESCO World Heritage designations. The historic centre retains the layout of its former castle town and has been designated an international tourism model district.
