Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue

France

Two Vauban watchtowers — on the islets of Tatihou and La Hougue — earned this pocket-sized Normandy fishing village a place on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2008, and the village itself was voted France's favourite village in a 2019 television poll. Sitting on the water with scenic views across the bay, Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue has a modest but real café and restaurant scene for a place its size.
