Belgium Arr. Virton

Saint-Mard

Arr. Virton · Belgium

Two churches mark this small Belgian village in the province of Luxembourg: a Neo-Romanesque parish church built between 1864 and 1867, and the older Church of Vieux-Virton on the edge of the village, whose origins trace to the late 7th or early 8th century and whose oldest surviving fabric dates to the 13th. Saint-Mard also sits on a Roman settlement established in the first century AD, and the wider region holds several UNESCO World Heritage sites.
