A riverside town in western Serbia on the Sava, Šabac has a compact centre with a concentrated café and restaurant scene. The administrative centre of the Mačva District, it developed around fortifications built along the river and remains the traditional hub of the fertile Mačva region, with mountains accessible nearby.
