A walkable city on the Słupia River in northern Poland's Pomeranian Voivodeship, Słupsk has a centre with a good spread of cafés and restaurants and a Renaissance Ducal Castle housing the Museum of Middle Pomerania — home to the largest collection of paintings by early-20th-century artist Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz. The city also contains what is recorded as the oldest preserved industrial structure in Poland, and its history spans a medieval Hanseatic League association and a period as residence of the Dukes of Słupsk.
