Rock Island sits at the confluence of the Rock and Mississippi rivers in Illinois, one of the Quad Cities alongside Moline, East Moline, Davenport, and Bettendorf. Its compact centre carries a heritage-dense streetscape with historic churches, cafés, and restaurants within walking distance of the waterfront. The city is home to Rock Island Arsenal, the largest government-owned weapons manufacturing facility in the United States, occupying what was originally called Rock Island — now known as Arsenal Island.
