This Bavarian village on the German-Austrian border known for reliable snowfall and a ski resort that earned Germany's first-ever Premium Winter Trails Certification in 2012, with alpine and cross-country skiing connecting across to Austria's Steinplatte. Three alpine lakes nearby offer summer swimming, and the village produces its own regional specialities including Heumilch hay-milk cheese and heuschnapps, a hay-and-herb liqueur. It also holds certification as a curative-air resort (Luftkurort) and counts among Bavaria's sunniest spots in summer.
