Sitting at the northern foot of Mount Etna, Randazzo is the closest town to the volcano's summit and one of the main starting points for the ascent. The town has an unusually high concentration of historic churches for its size, a real café and restaurant scene, and sits within Etna's wine-growing country. A UNESCO World Heritage site designation covers the wider Etna region, and the mountain dominates the skyline throughout.
