Queralbs
Spain
Small Pyrenean hamlet in Catalonia's Ripollès comarca, Queralbs is the gateway to Vall de Núria, reached by rack railway from nearby Ribes de Freser. The valley holds the Virgin of Núria shrine, which houses a Romanesque image of the Mare de Déu de Núria. The hamlet's own Romanesque church of Saint James dates to the late tenth century, and the municipality borders high Pyrenean peaks including Puigmal. First recorded in 836, Queralbs carries the motto poble mil·lenari — millennial town.
