Pyinmana
Myanmar (Burma)
City in Myanmar's Naypyidaw Union Territory with a concentration of historic churches in its centre, Pyinmana sits on the southern bank of the Ngalaik stream against the northern foothills of the Bago mountain range. A logging and sugarcane-refining centre, it gained wider significance in November 2005 when Myanmar's administrative capital was relocated to a militarized site just west of the city. During World War II, Pyinmana served as the base of the Burma Independence Army.
