Punta Umbría
Huelva · Spain
This little Andalusian fishing town on the banks of the Río Odiel, where it meets the Atlantic, Punta Umbría has a Blue Flag beach stretching along its shoreline and a café and restaurant scene that punches above its size. The town also has an unusual footnote in World War II history: it was here that the body of a supposed British officer carrying false top-secret documents washed ashore as part of the British deception operation known as Operation Mincemeat.
