Puerto Cabezas
Nicaragua
Puerto Cabezas — also known by its indigenous Miskito name Bilwi, meaning "snake leaf" in Mayangna — is the largest city on Nicaragua's Caribbean coast and the capital of the North Caribbean Coast Autonomous Region. The walkable centre sits close to the water and holds a concentration of cafés, restaurants, and historic churches. The municipality and surrounding region are indigenous lands, and the town borders the community known as Diez Comunidades.
