Known as the "city of water" for the many springs that rise around it, Priego de Córdoba is also celebrated as the jewel of Cordovan Baroque for its concentration of Baroque architecture. The town sits on the northern slope of the Sierra de Priego in southeastern Córdoba province, near the headwaters of the Guadajoz river, and forms part of the Caliphate Route through Andalusia's Subbética region.
