Como · Italy

A compact town on the shore of Lake Lugano in Lombardy's Province of Como, Porlezza has a café and restaurant scene that punches above its size, several historic churches, and scenic surroundings. Among its older landmarks is a medieval parish church dedicated to San Vittore, one of the ancient Archdiocese of Milan's many historic pievi. A narrow-gauge steam railway once connected the town to Menaggio on Lake Como, running between 1873 and 1939 as part of a cross-lake route to Lake Maggiore.
