Founded on 4 December 1884 by forty Occitan-speaking families from the Aveyron département of southern France, Pigüé carries a distinctly French colonial heritage in the Pampas of southwestern Buenos Aires Province. The town has a compact central core with cafés and restaurants, and sits within sight of mountains.
