Phra Phutthabat
Thailand
Phra Phutthabat, a town in Saraburi province, is home to Wat Phra Phutthabat, a royal Buddhist temple built around a natural depression in rock believed to be a footprint of the Buddha. Thai chronicles record that the site was identified during the Ayutthaya period after Sri Lankan monks noted that Thailand had its own Buddha's footprint on Khao Suwannabat hill. Thai kings from the Ayutthaya era through the Rattanakosin period have visited and supported the temple as a major site of royal devotion.
