First mentioned in records from 1399, Perechyn is a modest town in Ukraine's Zakarpattia Oblast, sitting on a river in the foothills of the Transcarpathian Mountains. It holds an unusual number of churches for its size and serves as a gateway along the mountain road north toward Lviv, with the wider region ringed by UNESCO World Heritage sites. The town is part of Uzhhorod Raion, a short distance south of Uzhhorod.
