A modest town in Epirus built on the slopes of Mount Gorilla, Paramythia overlooks the Valley of Paramythia and holds a Byzantine-era castle, open to visitors, set at one of the highest points in town. It serves as the seat of the municipality of Souli and acts as a local hub for surrounding villages, with the Egnatia Odos motorway linking it to both Igoumenitsa and Ioannina running through the valley to the north.
