Palmares
Costa Rica
The Las Fiestas Populares de Palmares, held each January, draw around a million visitors over two weeks, making this pocket-sized canton in Costa Rica's Alajuela province one of the country's most significant annual festival destinations. Situated in the western Valle Central, Palmares became a canton in 1888 and borders San Ramón, Atenas, and Naranjo across its seven districts.
