This former royal town in south-central Poland, Opoczno is known across the country for its folklore traditions and ceramics manufacturing, with a compact centre that holds a concentration of cafés and restaurants. Set at the confluence of the Wąglanka and Drzewiczka rivers, it was once among the most significant trade centres of Lesser Poland, prospering at the crossroads of major routes. Today it remains a notable road and rail junction in the Łódź Voivodeship.
