Oatlands holds more colonial sandstone buildings than any other town in Australia, many built by convict labour, and sits on the shores of Lake Dulverton in central Tasmania. A small village on the Midland Highway between Hobart and Launceston, it is surrounded by agricultural land and serves as the main centre of the Southern Midlands Council area.
