This trout-fishing village in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, Nottingham Road sits at the heart of the Midlands Meander and takes its name from Fort Nottingham, a 19th-century garrison established when conflict with the Basotho was anticipated. Founded in 1905, the village lies between Mooi River and Pietermaritzburg on the R103, with mountain country close by.
