Japan's leading producer of matcha, Nishio is a city in Aichi Prefecture known for its powdered green tea — marketed as Nishio-cha — and sometimes called the "Little Kyoto of Mikawa." The city sits at the southern end of the Yahagi River basin, with mountain views inland and water access along the coast. It also serves as a regional commercial and manufacturing centre.
