This Bavarian town in the Upper Palatinate with a walkable old town whose skyline is defined by the towers of its historic churches, Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz sits below the ruins of Wolfstein Castle on a ridge above the town. The surrounding region connects to Nürnberg, Ingolstadt, and Regensburg, and the town served as a Wittelsbach residence in the 15th and 16th centuries before developing into an industrial and commercial centre.
