This town on the Nara River southwest of Moscow, Naro-Fominsk has a walkable centre with cafés and restaurants and river views in the surrounds. First documented in 1629 as the wasteland of Fominskoye, it became a town in 1926 and was awarded the honorary title of City of Military Glory in 2009.
