Nahwa is a pocket-sized Emirati hamlet with an unusual geopolitical situation: it belongs administratively to the emirate of Sharjah yet sits entirely within the Omani exclave of Madha, which is itself surrounded by UAE territory. Reaching it requires passing through Madha — no passport control, though mobile signals switch from UAE to Omani networks at the border — along a winding road through mountain terrain, with a police post marking the hamlet's centre.
