Myawaddy
Myanmar (Burma)
Sitting on the Moei River across from the Thai town of Mae Sot, Myawaddy is the most important trading point between Myanmar and Thailand, and the main overland border crossing for travellers moving between Bangkok and Yangon. The compact centre has a concentration of cafés, restaurants, and churches, with mountains rising close by. The town draws a mixed population of Karen, Bamar, Mon, Shan, and Chinese communities.
