This town in the south-east of Argentina's Corrientes province where three countries meet: Monte Caseros sits across the water from Bella Unión in Uruguay and Barra do Quaraí in Brazil, forming a cross-border junction with recognised economic and tourist potential. The town is the administrative centre of its department and includes Itacumbú island within its municipality.
