Mogyorod

Hungary

The Hungaroring race track, home to the Hungarian Grand Prix, sits in this small town in Pest County, part of the Budapest agglomeration. Mogyoród also carries a long history: the Battle of Mogyoród was fought here on 14 March 1074, between King Solomon of Hungary and his cousins Géza and Ladislaus, with a monastery later founded on Klastrom mountain to mark the victory. The 18th-century Roman Catholic church and a Baroque parish built by the Bishop of Vác are among the surviving historic buildings.
