A pocket-sized town at the foot of the Brdy hills south of Prague, Mníšek pod Brdy has a well-preserved historic centre protected as an urban monument zone, and a baroque pilgrimage complex on the hill above town known as Skalka. The wooded surroundings offer scenic walking country, and the town's proximity to Prague makes it a practical base for exploring the Central Bohemian Region.
