Mindelo

Cape Verde's self-styled cultural capital, Mindelo is a port town on the island of São Vicente with a walkable centre dense with bars, restaurants, and churches. Traditional music plays regularly in venues around town, and the city's carnival — rooted in Portuguese tradition and later shaped by Brazilian influence — is among the most animated in the archipelago.
